You\u2019ve applied the latest KBs, but now your print spooler is screaming, and the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) is your new screen saver. You can’t get to the settings menu. You need a way out, and you need it fast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tools of the Trade<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019re going to use the Windows Update Standalone Installer (WUSA)<\/strong>. It\u2019s a clean, surgical tool for removing specific updates when the standard “Add\/Remove Programs” interface has been obliterated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Procedure<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

  1. Boot into WinRE:<\/strong> If you can\u2019t get to the desktop, let the system fail to boot three times, or use your recovery media.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Access Command Prompt:<\/strong> Navigate to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Command Prompt<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
